Our Mission & Vision

We seek to create dramatic and lasting change in the food system and strive to reconnect the Congolese with the people, plants, animals, fertile soils, and waters that produce our food. We aim to inspire people and communities to change the world through GOOD, CLEAN, and FAIR food for all. Slow Food Kisangani’s mission is to contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of the inhabitants of the city of Kisangani and its surroundings and to help food producers produce tasty and clean food without harming the environment. We aim to improve consumer health and support producers in their efforts to sell their products at a fair price.

 

GOOD: We believe in nutritious, delicious food as a daily right. We strive to cultivate joy, strengthen values in farming, and advocate for the diversity in what we grow and produce.

CLEAN: We protect natural resources for future generations, help the community respect the environment and promote locally and sustainably grown food.

FAIR: We build local cooperation and global collaborations while respecting all laws. Everyone is welcome to participate and we fight for the dignity of labor from field to fork.
